Fall 2026-2027 Player Development Session Summary

NOVICE LESSONS for New and Novice Players.
Join us to learn to play Pickleball! Our beginner/novice lesson plan includes 4 progressive lessons, 90 minutes each, meeting 2 x per week for 2 weeks. A limit of 8 participants per session, with a focus on learning the basics and enjoying the game. Each lesson builds on the last, we encourage players to attend all sessions for the best learning experience.
Paddles will be provided upon request. Club membership is not required to participate. Sign up information and court location will be posted on the Team Reach APP . Link for information on downloading and using team reach - Using Team Reach .

Session Dates: TBA - for 2026/2027
Lesson 1: Introduction to Pickleball, the serve, return of serve and scoring. Relax, learn the fundamentals and have fun.
Lesson 2: Today we build on what we learned in Part 1 of this lesson. Introduce the deep serve and deep return of serve, court positioning, moving forward after the serve and return. PREREQUISITE: Must have attended lesson 1
Lesson 3: Participants must have attended lessons 1 and 2 to attend lesson 3. Today we introduce
the Non Volley Zone (kitchen) rules, dinking basics, use of the backboard and why getting to the
kitchen matters. PREREQUISITE: Must have attended lessons 1 and 2.
Lesson 4: Today we bring all the skills together and play a Round Robin. Let’s have some fun!
Participants should have completed lessons 1,2, and 3 to attend lesson 4
LOW INTERMEDIATE PROGRESSIVE 4 SESSION CLINICS - Start date - TBA.
Classes are offered in ??. Participants should sign up for all sessions in the class as this is set up as a progressive lesson. Participants must have Novice skills and playing experience at minimum at a Novice level.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS: Novice skills and play experience at minimum
Forehand/Backhand - basic strokes are developing
Serve/ Return/Dink - some success, reliability is still building
3rd shot/Volley - Starting to learn the purpose and feel of these shots
Strategy - Beginning simple positioning and movement
These sesson clinics will focus on these skills:
Aim deep on serve/return; depth buys time to get to better positions.
Practice soft hands at the kitchen: gentle, controlled dinks over power.
Forehand: Basic directional groundstrokes; consistency still developing.
Backhand: Limited success; building confidence and control.
Serve / Return: Very basic serve; inconsistent placement into the correct service box.
Dink: Basics developing; can sustain short rallies with players of similar ability.
3rd Shot: Making minimal attempts at the drop shot.
Volley: Developing a simple punch volley.
Strategy: How will develop strategy with your partner.
INTERMEDIATE PROGRESSIVE 4 SESSION CLINICS - Start Date TBA.
Classes are offered in ??? Each class consists of 4 parts, each lesson builds on the previous lesson. Participants should sign up for all sessions in the class as this is set up as a progressive lesson. Participants MUST be ready to participate at this class level.

PREREQUISITE SKILLS: Minimum - Confident low intermediate play level and frequent play experience or Level 2.5 as verified by coaching team. Participation in coached play session may be required to verify skill level.
Level 2.5 Skill Level Skills:
Able to hit a forehand groundstroke with direction
Demonstrates a basic backhand groundstroke
Accurately places serve into correct square focusing on direction
Demonstrates a basic volley
Understands basic court positioning & Strategy
Understand the basic rules of the game and have played at a low intermediate level
These session Clinics will focus on these Skills.
Forehand: Ability to hit a medium paced shot.
Backhand: Learning the basic shot and skill improvement
Serve/ Return: Able to hit a medium paced shot.
Dink: Can sustain a basic dink rally with limited control.
3rd Shot: Generally hits a medium paced ball with limited direction.
Volley: Able to hit a medium paced shot. Lacks direction/inconsistent.
Strategy: Understands fundamentals and is playing more competitively. Is learning
proper court positioning. Frequent unforced errors likely.
ADVANCED SKILLS MINI CLINICS - Weekly sessions start TBA. Prerequisites apply. Lead by Tom Latshaw.
