KITCHEN SKILLS & FUNDAMENTALS – Advance Novice to Intermediates (Rating 3.0+)
· Program goals – review of kitchen foot work, ready position and introduction to “Push”, “Top-Spin” and “Slice” Dinks
· Develop a solid technique for “Push”, “Top-Spin” and “Slice” dinks – comprehensive work on paddle positioning, wrist positioning, arm movement and leg usage. Work on both front and backhand push dinks. This provides the basis for more advanced dink shots.
· Footwork and positioning – comprehensive work on proper foot work and movement along the kitchen line. Positioning fundamentals and movement with your partner.
· Drills – cooperative drilling on push dinks and movement followed by competitive drills to build confidence and skill level.
TRANSITION SKILLS & FUNDAMENTALS – Adv. Novice to Interm. (Rating 3.0+)
· Program goals – review of transition goals and movement, ready position and introduction to “Push” and “Top-Spin” drops. Work on defensive blocks between the baseline and kitchen.
· Develop correct technique for “Push” and “Top-spin” drops – comprehensive work on paddle positioning, arm movement, spacing and leg usage.
· Discussion on when to use “Drop” and “Drip” shots.
· Drills – cooperative drilling to build technique and confidence to drop shots from any place within the court.
· Demonstrate slinky drills for drops and warm-ups.
· Demonstrate defensive blocks using the ball machine.
COACH PLAY: Three and a Coach (60 minutes)
